Product Description

Fluorine Free Pulp Tableware for Water and Oil Resistance uses molded bagasse pulp as the base material, with a food-grade bio-based barrier coating evenly sprayed on both inner and outer surfaces through an automated coating process. It eliminates the issues of film peeling and delamination found in laminated products while solving the water and oil resistance limitations of traditional pulp tableware. The coating can degrade together with the pulp material, requiring no plastic film separation process, making it an ideal solution for global plastic reduction and PFAS compliance requirements. It is widely suitable for chain restaurants, prepared food brands, and cross-border food packaging applications.

Developed with our proprietary bio-based spraying technology, the product features PFAS-free formulation, a high-density uniform water and oil resistant coating, and excellent performance for microwave heating and industrial composting. It is suitable for takeaway food, prepared meals, and supermarket retail applications. We support OEM/ODM customization, including LOGO, size, and structural design, and provide complete FDA, LFGB, and EN13432 certification documents for export markets.

We are a source factory specializing in food-grade water and oil resistant bagasse pulp takeaway trays. Offering full OEM/ODM customization, fluorine-free plant-based coating, 12-level oil resistance, microwave and freezer compatibility, and complete compostable recycling solutions.

Fluorine Free Pulp Tableware

Fluorine-Free Sprayed Pulp Tableware Industry Advantages

Traditional pulp tableware without barrier treatment easily becomes soft and leaks when exposed to hot soup or oily food. Laminated pulp products may face issues such as film separation, difficult recycling, poor compostability and higher costs, while PFAS-based coatings are increasingly restricted in global markets. Our fluorine-free bio-based spraying technology provides a compliant, cost-effective and sustainable solution with the following core advantages.

Sustainable & Regulatory Compliance Advantages

  • PFAS-Free Safe Coating: Using plant-based starch and chitosan coating technology, the product contains no fluorine or petroleum-based additives. It complies with global environmental regulations such as EU REACH, California SB343 and EPA fluorine control requirements, helping customers reduce export compliance risks.

  • Fully Compostable Integrated Structure: The bio-based coating bonds firmly with pulp fibers and does not require plastic film separation after use. The entire product can be industrially composted within 30–45 days and supports efficient recycling and repulping.

Spraying Technology Advantages Compared with Lamination

Unlike traditional laminated pulp packaging, sprayed pulp tableware features a seamless barrier layer without delamination, bubbling or peeling. It remains stable under hot and cold temperature changes and long-term contact with liquids.

The plastic-free structure simplifies recycling processes, reduces waste sorting costs and lowers production costs compared with PP/PET laminated pulp products with similar barrier performance. The dry surface coating also prevents products from sticking together during storage and transportation.

Superior Water & Oil Resistance

The sprayed coating effectively seals pulp fiber pores and provides excellent oil resistance up to TAPPI Level 12. It can withstand 95℃ hot oil exposure for 30 minutes without penetration or softening.

The stable hydrophobic barrier prevents water absorption and deformation when holding ice water, hot soup or liquid foods for extended periods, making it ideal for takeaway delivery and food packaging applications.

Temperature Resistance & Versatile Applications

Standard sprayed pulp tableware supports a temperature range from -20℃ to 120℃, suitable for freezing, refrigeration and short-time microwave heating. High-temperature enhanced coating options can withstand up to 140℃, meeting the requirements of hot meals and steamed food packaging.

Global Market Demand Advantages

With increasing restrictions on fluorinated coatings and plastic-lined packaging worldwide, fluorine-free sprayed pulp products are becoming a preferred alternative. They provide a cost-effective solution for restaurants, prepared food brands, supermarkets, schools and event catering suppliers, while supporting customized LOGO branding to enhance brand visibility.

Product Process & Technical Details

Automated Spraying Process

  • The product uses 360° automatic spray technology to evenly coat the inner walls, outer surfaces, bottom and corners without coating gaps.

FAQ

Q1: How to choose between sprayed pulp and laminated pulp products? What are the differences?

A1:

  • Sprayed Pulp: No plastic film, fully compostable and recyclable, no delamination risk, and lower cost. Suitable for fast food, ready-to-eat meals, and long-term bulk export procurement.

  • Laminated Pulp: Provides stronger barrier performance and higher oven temperature resistance. Suitable for premium prepared foods and airline meals.

For European and American markets where PFAS control and recycling requirements are emphasized, fluorine-free sprayed pulp products are the preferred choice.

Q2: Are the products completely fluorine-free? Can they be exported to Europe and America?

A2: Yes. We operate an independent fluorine-free spray coating production line. Each batch can provide PFAS non-detection reports. Products are supported with EN13432, BPI, FDA, and LFGB certifications, complying with EU and US fluorine restriction regulations for smooth customs clearance and supermarket entry.

Q3: Will the coating peel off or release harmful substances during heating?

A3: The products use plant-based bio coating technology. Within the rated temperature range (≤120℃ standard version / ≤140℃ reinforced version), the coating will not melt, peel, or release harmful substances. Third-party microwave and heat resistance test reports are available.

Q4: Will sprayed pulp products leak when holding thick soup or hot oil for a long time?

A4: The standard version provides Level 10 oil resistance, while the heavy oil version reaches TAPPI Level 12 premium oil resistance. It can withstand 95℃ hot oil immersion for 30 minutes without penetration, making it suitable for oily foods and soup-based meals.

Q5: Will the coating fail during long-distance ocean transportation and storage?

A5: Finished products are strictly controlled for moisture content before shipment. With moisture-proof inner packaging, products can withstand 45 days of ocean transportation without moisture damage, while maintaining oil resistance performance.

Q6: Can the mold fee be refunded?

A6: Mold fees are calculated according to structural complexity. When customer orders reach the agreed purchasing quantity, the mold fee can be fully deducted from product orders and returned.

Q7: Can brand LOGO printing be customized? Is the ink safe?

A7: Two options are available:

  • Pulp embossing LOGO without ink;

  • Food-grade water-based ink printing on non-food-contact surfaces. All printing materials pass migration tests and are safe and compliant.

Q8: How should sprayed pulp products be disposed of after use?

A8: The coating and pulp structure can be industrially composted and fully degraded together. Products can also be directly recycled and repulped without manually separating plastic films, significantly reducing recycling costs.

Q9: Can third-party oil resistance and PFAS test reports be provided?

A9: Yes. We support third-party testing through SGS and BV, providing official reports covering oil resistance level, water absorption, PFAS testing, and food migration tests for bidding, brand audits, and overseas registration.
